Hey all,
It's been a busy week on the farm, with the heat sapping a lot of our energy, and yet still having so much to get done. There's truly no stopping this time of year with constant harvest and irrigation, so I'm going to keep this email short and sweet. Thanks to the lovely Amanda Photographic, we've got a great photo of our crew now, so I thought it'd be a good time to introduce them. We've got a lot more help on the farm this season, which we are so grateful for. They've really been holding it down as things have gotten really busy in the past month, and we're so happy to have each and every one of them. Pictured from left to right is Shae, Meg, Caleb, Ashley and Ricardo. They are all relatively new to farming, although all have some background in growing in some way. Working on a mixed vegetable farm isn't easy, we switch tasks often and quickly and everything must be done with efficiency and precision, which is why we rely on a well trained crew to keep the farm rolling. They now know how to do it all from planting to weeding to harvest and market, and we absolutely couldn't do it without them.
As far as boxes go, we've got a LOT of food coming off the farm nowadays. We've got gorgeous cauliflower for boxes this week, as well as cucumbers! We've also got napa cabbage (yay kimchi and stir frys). Don't be afraid of these napa, we grow a smaller variety so they're very manageable and keep well in the fridge. We've also got out favorite type of head lettuce in boxes this week-- red butter. There's so much more, so check out the list. We'll be back on the tomato train shortly, but with boxes being pretty chock full this week, we've just got some cherry tomatoes on offer to swap in if you need a fix for the week.
Your farmers,
Ashley, Caleb and the Sungrounded Crew
