Can we get some rain?
We have most of our production on drip irrigation, but when it doesn’t rain for long periods of time, our pond gets more challenging to irrigate from. This week we planted out our new acreage into sunn hemp and sorghum sudan grass with a no-till drill. With that tool we can set the seed right into the soil without doing any tillage on the ground, but it’s so dry it won’t be coming up until we are blessed with some moisture from the sky! We are anxious to start the long process of building the soil on this new acreage, but we need rain in order to grow forage for the sheep which will slowly build fertility back into the land. We hope that we can continue to regenerate more land, but we need a little bit of rain to get it all started!
