Soil

As farmers, we are totally aware of the benefits of ground cover. Protecting the soil from erosion, high temperatures, and dryness creates an ideal environment for beneficial soil microbes to proliferate and work in tandem with plants to create life. If you think this is an overstatement, it may be, but modern science continues to highlight a healthy microbiome as the backbone for health. Also, we know that without microbial life all other life forms cease to function, do we know which ones we are to select for? As an organic farmer, I am convinced that farming the soil microbiome is the job at hand. When done well, these little fellows have the ability to provide all that we need to grow healthy plants, animals, and communities. Of course, tillage runs opposite this knowledge, but so does herbicide. There are tools we use that we know have a negative impact, but we adhere to a set of principals to support soil recovery and improvement for the future. I hope our clean (chemical free), sometimes dirty produce has been meeting your expectations and providing a healthy option for you and yours.
