Welcome to the Common Ground Farm Summer 2019 CSA!
You should have received an email from me yesterday with info about the CSA (weekly veggie box subscription) and hopefully you are somewhat familiar with what to expect. This is the weekly email you will receive that indicates we've done our estimate for the week. You have until tomorrow evening to swap or make changes to your box contents based on what we have available for harvest this week.
A lot of people have been asking me what the super wet and cold spring has meant for us. Up until now, it hasn't made a huge difference because we have a fair amount of space in hoophouses and our greenhouse. The main effect it will have the summer is a delay in some direct seeded crops (like green beans for example are not going to be ready until Aug now, and we'll have a few weeks' gap with only few carrots and beets in late July). But fortunately all our transplanted crops are growing well and this weather has been really good for brassicas (shown in the picture) and anything leafy green. We are loaded with tomatoes and cucumbers thanks to our (still new to us) greenhouse! All in all, with some give and take of various crops, we expect to have a really good selection of things for the shares despite the less than ideal spring.
