To be farming in February, means that we have traversed all of the adversities of January. This is one of my favorite months to farm in Louisiana. It's when we plant a large percentage of our Spring/Summer crops, but it's also a time of year when the vegetables over-wintered on the farm taste better than ever.

Farewell, Fresh Dill:
Our fresh dill did not survive the cold front. Everything looked great, but when we harvested last week, we noticed that the stems were all breaking in half. We planted more dill, and have a lot more fresh herbs planned for the Spring season!
From Moonlight Harvest Farm:
Farmer Lacey is so grateful for everyone who has ordered fresh mushrooms! We have sold out of mushrooms every week, but next week we should have enough for everyone. From perfect omelets to pastas, I find it's so easy to incorporate fresh mushrooms into so many home cooked meals! I am so thankful that myself and all of of our farm share members have access to this amazing crop!
Springing Into Action:
I counted on Friday and we have more than 25,000 transplants in our greenhouse. On Saturday morning, we started planting early and beat the heavy rain. I'm really excited about a new bush bean we are growing, the dragon's tongue bean! The past several years, we have used our caterpillar tunnels to start early beans and squash. A big job each year is getting the potatoes planted, and I'm really hoping that will happen on Saturday!
With so many new farm share members, Kaden and I are working as hard as we can to finish this season with lots of high quality vegetables. We are also working hard, hoping that a lot of you will join us for our Spring farm share season! The Spring season is the time of year when we have our widest range of vegetables week to week. But don't worry, the salad & shoots isn't going anywhere.
We hope you cook some delicious, locally-grown food this week!
Your farmers,
Conrad & Kaden Cable
