The Height of Summer

Posted on July 23rd, 2024 by Conrad Cable

I apologize for not getting the shares posted yesterday. Life has been kind of hectic around here the past week. I did extend the customization window until Thursday at noon to give everyone additional time. I hope you have all been enjoying the farm shares! One month remains in this season, and we are now entering one of the most challenging growing seasons of the year. Not only is this season our largest season ever, but also our longest season to date.

What's Fresh This Week?

-Salad & Shoots (Lettuce is back!)

-Shelled Pecans (Jones Produce)

-Lima Beans (Joywalk)

-Okra (reduced price!)

-Pea Shoots

-Watermelons (Last week available)

Farm Update

We appreciate everyone who worked with us while we pivoted some of our Friday routes last week. Last Wednesday, Emi and I were driving home from our family vacation with her side of the family. I called my Dad to check in, and he told me that the night before they had taken Franny to the hospital with stomach pains. But they didn't want to worry us while we were away. A few days ago, Franny had her gallbladder removed and is still in the recovery unit. She is feeling a lot better and will be back at the farm by Friday. Thank you to everyone who messaged us with your thoughts and prayers!

Franny does so much for us at the farm! In case you didn't know, each week Franny picks up eggs, peaches, or any other produce we are aggregating. She also organizes all of the farm share labels each week into spreadsheets, and runs two delivery routes including Shreveport/Bossier. In short, she is an important part of our farm and we are going to really miss her help for the rest of this season. So please keep in mind that if we have to made a few changes to delivery and pick ups, it's Franny's gallbladder's fault!
