Happy Friday All,
It has been a nice summer week here on the farm. It feels a little awkward to be engaged in indirect production projects in such weather. I feel like we should be trellising tomatoes or picking watermelons or something.
Our crop lineup tells a different story though. With the introduction of brussel spouts to the mix, we have hit peak fall. The broccoli and cauliflower are still going strong too.
We have spent some time this week cleaning up in the greenhouses. This has included terminating an indoor crop of peppers. We pulled the last few peppers of the year from them - the yummys and the poblanos. Get em while you can, that's the very last of them!
In non-veg news: the sheep came home from the solar farm for one final goodbye. Earlier this week, they got loaded up and sold to another pasture based farmer in Perry County. We have identified that sheep are a little more work then they are worth and we are more interested in focusing on the beef production. A few lambs will hang around here for another couple weeks before heading to the freezer. Then, for the first time since the beginning, the College Farm will be sheepless. Have a great weekend!
