Hello Everyone- Sharing a cute photo of Ellie and her Nellie (in sunglasses) just cuz I'm hoping it will bring a smile.
After a slow steady climb our strawberry production backslid significantly last week and we are having to refund some 80 of you.. So sorry to disappoint. We aren't sure what we'll get this week especially with the predicted rain for Monday (rain causes damage to berries and spreads molds and fungus). I have still offered some berries as we are trying to prioritize all of you, our subscribers. If we fall short we will credit your berries back to your account. You may also notice that overall there's less diversity available. We are heading into the tightest weeks of the year- when we're running out of the last Fall and Winter planted crops, but the Spring planted crops aren't quite ready yet. We've added jam & applesauce into the boxes to help fill them out instead of just having them as extras.
Other news: We had another frost last week.. Last year our last frost was right after Mother's Day. Planning on uncovering the first round of summer squash on Monday, so cross your fingers as squash is pretty frost sensitive. Potatoes are growing beautifully.. we just thinned the first round of Spring planted beets and carrots and the next round is up. The first plantings of kale and Chard are almost harvestable- we may dip into these rounds this week for your boxes.
