Farm News for June 18, 2020

Posted on June 13th, 2020 by Barbara Amezcua

Can't believe we're already approaching the 3rd week of June! So many crops are finally ready to harvest.  This week we're offering you all broccoli, escarole, fennel, basil, parsley, and a few carrots too.. more coming next week...Remember you can always swap out what you don't like and snag extras if you need to.  For certain things there are enough for all and others we'll have to offer for about a 3rd of you each week. The potatoes are imminent, but the skins are still too delicate to harvest with out harvester without damaging them too much... Coming soon- cucumbers, cauliflower, more carrots, and potatoes.  What else are we up to here?  Well the Dry Beans are all up as are the Winter Squash and they're being cultivated as I write this.  We're thinning the apples (usually the first apples are ready in July so some of them are already starting to get pretty big).  Next it's time to summer prune the fruit trees once the thinning is done.

Flower Share Holders- this week you'll be getting 3 bunches of Sweet Peas.  Such heavenly scent... and they generally peter out as the summer heat starts, so we want to make sure you get a good dose before they're gone.

Stay safe and thank you for letting us feed you this summer :)
