Wow, what dramatic weather!! Hope you all got to witness a bit of that lightning as well (safely and without any resulting fires..) Here at the farm we are racing to water crops in the heat and triage the power outages (which leaves us with no refrigeration or power for washing produce). The need for a big enough back up generator to run the large walk in cooler is becoming more and more apparent.
We're entering what is our peak season- melons are on, peppers are starting, tomatoes.. and we're still harvesting most of our old standby crops as well. The annual dry bean harvest is about to start- looks like we could start pulling Tiger Eye beans perhaps by the end of this week. Kabocha Winter Squash will be harvestable in a week or two as well! Enjoy the plentitude!!
