Farm News for May 20, 2021

Posted on May 16th, 2021 by Teresa Kurtak

Pictured above: Having fun with Tokyo Turnips- fyi these aren't your Grandma's turnips (if you are of European heritage).  Tokyo turnips are delicious eaten raw or cooked and the greens are also super tasty.  My kids will eat em raw like apples.  You'll be surprised.. many picky eaters go ga ga for them.  Slice em up on a salad or sautee simply with a bit of cooking sherry.

Week 2!  We made it through our first CSA pack and hopefully most of you received what you ordered ;)  If not, do let us know and we are happy to credit missing items.  We're still getting back into practice.  We also have some sad news, Sammie Raymundo, who has been our CSA Manager has decided to move on.  If you know someone who seems like they might be the right fit for this job, please send them our way.      -Teresa

A note from your CSA Manager:

Well, I guess this is goodbye for now.. What a wild ride this year has been! I came into this position with absolutely no farming experience and was lucky that Teresa, Mike and John trusted me to run the CSA regardless. A full year of farming in a mask and I can say I have a few co-workers whose entire faces I still have never seen! Trippy! I'm so grateful for this opportunity and getting to meet some of you at the market has been such a joy. Thank you for all of the supportive messages throughout this entire year. Those words went a long way especially on some of the tougher days around here.

Now that things are opening back up, I'll be heading back to the Beer Industry and moving north with my partner Angel, our farm intern who packed a good chunk of the CSA Shares. Some of you may have had the chance to meet her at the market as well. She's expressed many times how much she'll miss seeing you every Saturday and Sunday. Angel will be going back to school full time for Chinese Medicine. Hit her up in a few years for all your acupuncture needs!

And to whoever comes into this role next, please be kind and patient. It's a big learning curve but they'll be up to speed in no time!
