*ONLY 5 WEEKS LEFT and our 2023 CSA comes to a close!

*Please return the reusable mesh bags as soon as possible everyone!  If you have been seeing more disposable packaging this is because we haven't had enough of the reusable mesh bags to fill your boxes.  We know there are plenty out there, so don't forget!

*You can still RSVP to come to our Farm Field Day on October 29th here:  https://forms.gle/X4icYck4ZRvVArbr9

We have a Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin patch.  All CSA Members are welcome to a pumpkin per family.  If you feel so inclined or if you want additional pumpkins we are the proceeds to the Pacific Elementary School Foundation.  We will have a pumpkin carving zone set up, there will be an apple tasting, cider pressing, a farm tour, and Wood Fired Pizza lunch for those that wish prepared by Uncie Ro's Pizza (tickets must be purchased in advance and can be purchased under the EXTRAS section when you customize your box).  Lunch tickets will be at the front gate when you arrive..

FARM NEWS:

Veg:  The Fall crops are in- kale, bunching greens, winter squash.. This week we harvest our first parsnips.  In this warm climate they will need to chill for 2-3 weeks to allow the starches to convert to sugars and sweeten up, but they're coming!  Pepper ripening and fruit set have sloooowed. Same with summer squash.  Based on our records a killing frost could be any day. In 2018 our first frost was Oct 4th!

Flowers: The first round of ranunculus will go into our in field hoops tomorrow and if all goes well we'll start to harvest in late January.  We also will start to pull up our dahlias tomorrow to store so we can get the field cover cropped. Sad this year as there are still so many beautiful blooms!  We still have beautiful marigolds. We're planning on fulfilling bouquets through next week, but that will likely be the end of our fresh bouquets.

Dry Beans: Gabriel and Celestino have been threshing beans practically every day for the past 2 weeks and are more than halfway through getting the beans out of the field so we can cover crop and just in case more rain comes, which can cause major damage to them.  We will finish collecting all the last of the winter squash from the field tomorrow.  Next priority is taking down the tomato trellising so that the tomato field can be disced and cover cropped as well.
