Just 3 more mornings of possible freeze/ frost! I will admit that our losses were modest because we had ample notice and the wind slowed temporarily, so we could cover the most vulnerable out door crops. Once we accomplished that, everything in the hoops were covered with spun bound row covers, because wind isn't a factor inside.
Harvie, my online inventory manager, is coming along pretty well. This enables me to add produce items that might be in short supply, because the platform knows when I will run out of those items.Those items are added only on the Harvie website. Hopefully gone are the days when I'm out ruining a crop by over picking!
This week begins the outdoor Allen Street Farmers Market on Wednesday, and because of construction on the building, the physical location is moved to the 2100 block of Michigan Avenue.
That's at the corner of Michigan Ave and Faiirview. Before that on Wednesday I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids at 12:00 noon. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, 1-5, and Saturday I deliver to the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:15-12:00 noon. I will continue to serve the Grand Ledge customers weekly this way as the Farmers Market there still indefinitely suspended.
