I didn't get everything winterized the way I'd like; I was misled by the prolonged warmer October/ November, just like everyone else. As I construct the 2025 Crop Plan and Weekly Farm Activity Schedule, I'll include a bold subtitle, "Stay with the Plan"! We did lose some outdoor Kale, but the produce in the hoops seem fine and the overwintered Carrots and Onions in our 4' low tunnels look excellent!
We will continue to accept email, text, and phone requests for fresh produce, and in order to accommodate the increased volume (thank you!), and add extra product to our weekly CSA Membership, I plan to attend the Allen Street Indoor winter market every other week,instead of weekly , while maintaining Wednesday deliveries in that parking lot in between dates, 4:30-5:30 PM. Seed orders and Supplies will arrive soon, and time gets prioritized, especially with winter weather. We seed flats for fresh herbs this week and begin planting Onions January 13. Oh my, the nursery activity will be busy!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street parking lot after that, 4:30-5:30 PM. Saturday.Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday I at the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery in Grand Ledge, 11:00-12:00 noon. Scheduled home deliveries will arrive after that.
