Hello!
Every Winter to Spring transition is a little bumpy and one never knows exactly when it's going to happen. Well, last week was it! The heavy snow on Presidents Day followed by an arctic blast with temps below zero, was anything but Springlike.
As we near eleven hours of daylight, and know the thaw is coming , we continue to plant for April and May transplants, and in two weeks I'll start the plants for the home gardener plant sales. The cold conditions slowed our greens production, and we lost most of our apples, so the menu will be light for a couple of weeks as we pull items like Asian Greeens and convert to more lettuces.
After this week, CSA fruit shares will not be available until the Strawberries and Blueberries arrive. I will tally the credits and prioritize the CSA Members receipt of early Summer fruit!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Tannin Italian Restaurant parking lot later in the day, 4:30-5:30 to serve our Lansing and Allen Street Friends. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and and I am in Grand Ledge at the parking lot behind Flour Child , Saturday, 11:00-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
Thank you,
