This is the last week for our Spring CSA distribution, and from the current menu, we are already moving into some warmer weather additions! Auto- Renew for the convenience of current subscribers is on Friday, April 22. If you don't want to renew, go to your personal page and turn off the renew toggle, or contact me for help. Payment equal to the amount of two deliveries will be collected by Harvie on Friday, April 29.
The Summer CSA Deliveries start on May 2 and run through September 3. I will offer Fruit Shares as an add-on option in mid June, as I don't see much in local Michigan fruit available before then. Even the Strawberries look a little set back because of the colder weather of late! Most of this coming week will be spent nursing the damage caused by the high winds and below freezing temps! It is all part of the process called farming.
Data from the U S Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration identifies 12 (The Dirty Dozen) top food items containing 2-21 different pesticides, and the "Clean Fifteen" food items as well. While this is subject matter for another week, note that I grow 9 out of the dirty 12 from organic and/ or untreated seeds in the nursery, and in the process, offer this food group to you completely chemical free!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the indoor Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday morning I am in the parking lot behind Flour Child Restaurant in Grand Ledge, 11:00-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
