The second week in November (about 4 weeks from now) is significant from a grower's perspective. That Sunday marks the end of Daylight Savings Time and work schedules will be altered, and that same week means the end of any meaningful plant growth (November 10).
While I will continue to violate the norms within the partially heated nursery and artificial lighting, we must recognize and respect our limitations! This is the last week that we are seeding new flats, and we are down to Baby Lettuce, Spinach, Baby Leaf Asian Greens, and Microgreens. We are not done with planting in 2022, however, as we will start very early Tomatoes and Onions between Christmas and New Years!
We are still transplanting all things green; those activities will wind down as we shift towards winterizing and cold weather repairs.
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up for preorders, and Saturday morning I deliver to the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:00-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
