It's a new season, and the first Allen Street Farmers Market outdoors opens this week, and the Grand Ledge ``Market on the Grand" opens Saturday, May 20! Schedule adjustments have already begun, as the weekly harvests are expanding and I prepare to welcome a very accomplished senior from Michigan State University as a Summer intern!
I am proud of all our student worker alumni, and notable is Riley Sherman, who just graduated from Ferris State University with a straight "A" grade point! Riley graduated from Springport High School and seeded our flats in the nursery for the better part of four years. Coincidentally, the Springport Biology Teacher, Megan Emelander, is conducting a Hillcrest Farm tour tomorrow. Whew!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:30. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and scheduled home deliveries. Saturday I am in the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:00-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
