The Grand Ledge Farmers Market is finished for the season. Saturday deliveries will happen in the parking lot behind the Flour Child Bakery on Bridge Street, from 11:00-12:00 PM on by pre-arranged home delivery after that.
With this great weather it is easy to overlook the fact that we have about 7 weeks to have everything in the greenhouses at 75% maturity for winter production! Although Tomato and Pepper harvests are plentiful and good quality, I notice that the cherry tomatoes are having time meeting market quantities. Those little guys are the first sign that the rest of the fruiting crops are about to wind down! After this week's harvest we will pull some of the tomato crop to make way for the cold weather transplants lik Kale, Spinach, Baby Lettuce, and Asian Greens.
I will receive the Organic Garlic bulbs any day, and the beds will be ready by the week's end. The Strawberries will be covered with row cover very soon, and the Sweet Potatoes will come out at the first hint of frost!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that,3:00-6:00 PM. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and pre-arranged home deliveries. Note the time and delivery locations in Grand Ledge; I will spend the additional extra free time to do some farming!
