Hot July brings on summer fruits

Life is a lot like farming, or is it the other way around. Farming is life with all of its changes, messiness, and unpredictability but you can't forget the beauty and bliss that makes you just step back and say, "It's beautiful and I love it." This time last year the rain had finally stopped and we were taking stock of what we had on our hands. This year I am blessed to have water in my ponds and plenty of heat to grow the crops. More importantly I have an amazing group of people that I get the honor of training and working next to no matter the weather.

I am sitting in my office while the wether station tops ready tops 100 degrees for the first time in a long while. We have been feed and irrigating the crops to help them make it through the heat. The farmers have been coming in at 5:30 and 6:30 over the past few days to get the harvests and transplanting done and beat the worst of the heat. Whew, how things change from season to season.

I am excited about the way the fields look and the crops that we are going to be seeing over the next few weeks and into August. This week's share will have our first carrots and begin the flow of our heirloom squash. Soon the peppers will start and before you know it, melon season will arrive. So much to look forward to as the season moves along.

Important Update

The Fruit Share has Begun!

Your Fruit Shares begin THIS WEEK! All of the snow in the mountains last winter and a proper spring on the Western Slope have really filled the orchards with amazing fruit. I am excited to be starting the fruit share this week.

Here's what you need to know:

  • The fruit share begins THIS WEEK.
  • If you signed up for a Fruit Share, we will be adding fruit directly into your share.
  • If you do not have a fruit share, you can still add fruit to your order as an add-on till the end of the season.

This week's fruit share will contain 4lbs of Rising Star Peaches! The fruit share is not customizable, but you can still add on fruit as an extra to your share whether or not you are subscribed to the Fruit Share itself.

Stay cool this weekend.

Thank you for being a member of our farm.
