View from the Tractor

What a lovely week it has been. The temperatures have moderated and we have even had little bouts of rain. I am thrilled with this change.

This week we have been busy bringing in the bounty from the squash patch and the carrot field. It is always thrilling when you get huge harvests which started out as such small seeds or plants. The squash in particular are just biomass machines. It seems like the plants are growing at an exponential rate and now they are ready to produce so much fruit. This week alone we hauled out of the field over 2000 pounds of summer squash. This week we are going to highlight the gold bar squash and the romanesco squashes in your shares. We are also going to have squash blossoms available as an add on this week. These flowers are natures pasta shells that you can get creative with and stuff to your heart's content.

This morning I took the staff out into the pepper fields to get them excited about what lies ahead of us on the epic journey of farming. We saw shishitos starting to size up, plus tiny purple and green bell peppers and so many flowers throughout the field. It looks like it is going to be an amazing pepper year. We were also blessed to see an Osprey flitting around the melon patch hunting mice. Almost as cool as the Osprey, we saw our first baby melons growing.

Even though our bodies may be tired, our spirits are lifted and our energy levels charged when we see such magic emanating from our dance with nature.

Have an amazing week.

The fruit share this week.

We are totally excited to be bringing in cherries from Eli Family Farms this week. These Sweetheart cherries are a sweet-tart treat from old tree stock and is a rare find.

This week's fruit share will contain 2lbs of Sweetheart Cherries! The fruit share is not customizable, but you can still add on fruit as an extra to your share whether or not you are subscribed to the Fruit Share itself.

Besides the cherries, we also still have peaches available as an add on. There will more peaches next week.

Thank you for being a member of our farm.
