Week 9 - On the hump of the CSA Season

The week started hot and dry, then finally the weather broke and we actually had a little rain on the farm. Not much rain, but I will take it. As you can see from the photo above, mud was made while we attacked some of our weeding issues around the farm.

This week we are going to be finally getting into our peppers. I love watching the sweet and hot peppers flower all summer long. I then get excited when I see all of this beautiful color start to form throughout the field. We will start bringing in our sweet green and purple peppers. Just to start bringing the heat, we will have Anaheim's for roasting and Jalapeños for adding spice to everything.

It is the middle of the CSA season this week, but we are in the final quarter of the farming season. The staff has shrunk on some days, sometimes perilously, but we are seeing new faces and energy come into our lives. This late in the season the body aches, the spirit can flag, and the mind starts to look forward to the changing seasons that lie ahead. Nonetheless, we will lean into the remainder of the season and focus on the beauty that surrounds us. We just need to lift up our heads and see it.

Enjoy the cool weather and have a great weekend.

The fruit share this week.

This week will have more peaches, but this time from Rancho Durazno. On a side note, when I first became excited about local food, I partnered with Rancho Durazno to bring a high quality CSA to Steamboat Springs. It is wonderful to be working wth them again. There peaches are wonderful.

We have peaches available as an add on if you do not have a fruit share.

Thank you for being a member of our farm.
