The sun is out and the warmer weather is making everything POP! The cucumbers and tomato plants are doubling in size each day, finally basking in the glory of this heat.
Meet Stef! She is also loving this warm, sunny weather. Stef is harvesting asparagus in this picture. She joined the Root 5 crew in March this year and she's originally from Louisiana. Stef loves everything about scallions from sowing, to harvesting, to eating, and when she's not on the farm, she enjoys redecorating and painting her house. We love her hard work and sweet smile!
This week's Tips and Tricks:
Dry your greens! If your greens are damp, spin them dry in a salad spinner before placing in a plastic bag in the fridge. Or place a paper towel in the bag to absorb the moisture.
Store dill in an open plastic bag in your fridge until ready to use. If you won't use it all right away, dry your dill bunch by hanging it upside down in a cool, dark dry part of your kitchen for two weeks, then crumble the leaves into a glass jar for storage.
Seasonal Recipes: (make sure you add dill to give your tastebuds an extra bright, tangy delight!)
