The start of July.

Dear Spoon Full Farm Family,

Every Friday morning, we devote the morning to walk the fields to check for weed pressure and pest pressure amongst our crops. We also spend the time walking through rows of crops, diligently checking the status of all of the crops that have been transplanted the past week. This past week we planted winter squash - rows of kabocha, delicata squash, and jack - o - lantern pumpkins. It's only the beginning of July and we are already thinking about fall crops like winter squash, Brussels sprouts, and potatoes. Additionally, during our farm walks, we cover farm tasks for the following week (weeding the beets, trellising and pruning the field tomatoes, etc.) and figure out what deliciousness will be in your CSA boxes for the week. This week, your share will be full of cherry tomatoes, snap peas, snow peas, and more deliciousness. You'll also be able to add hearty kale and chard (and more tomatoes!) to your boxes this week.

Also, please remember, you can choose to bring your own bag(s) and pack your share into your bag(s) at your pick-up location, and leave the boxes (This works very well).  If you decide to take your box when you pick up your new veggies, PLEASE bring your box and fabric back the following week. It seems not all boxes are coming back each week, which sadly means not all of you will not be receiving your CSA in a box but in a paper bag.

As always, happy eating.
