Dear Spoon Full Farm Family,
It's Week 15 of the Spoon Full CSA! This week, we're featuring a farm happening written by our last incredible apprentice for the season, Nicki.
"The season is changing, autumn is around the corner. Mornings are crispy and evenings are coming earlier by the day. The first frost is impending, staring down and telling us our season of fresh garden treats is nearing an end. It's time to gear up for the heartier storage produce of winter squash, root vegetables and brassicas, all beg to be roasted or made into soup or stew (leek and potato soup is the perfect comfort soup). As things in the field begin to transition, we are turning beds over and tucking them in with a cozy cover crop blanket The long push of peak season is slowing and a new all pace is setting itself. The livestock are getting thicker coats and bulking up for the colder months that are soon upon us. We are all grateful for the change of the season, and to look back on the bounty the farm has given us."
Oh, and since we can't resist fruit this time of the season, we are offering Fortune Plums, from Collins Family Orchard, this week as extra's which you could add on to your existing produce share.
Wishing you good health,
Your Spoon Full Farm Farmers
