I want to introduce you to our main crew for the season-- apart from Caleb and I, these are the folks making it all happen this season. From left to right we have Meg (returning for a second season), Michelle (first season on our farm, but past experience on several farms), and Shae (returning for a second season). We seriously couldn't do it without them, and are excited to have an experienced crew this season, making everything go smoothly! Behind the camera here you've got Susan, Caleb's mom, who is here for the summer and also helping us out on busy harvest mornings and at busy farmer's markets. If you see any of them on the farm, or at one of our drop spots, feel free to ask them any questions about the veggies, they're involved with them from seed to harvest!
On the farm right now, we're feeling incredibly grateful for past seasons' wisdom that has taught us to plan for diversity, as our field is feeling very slow to grow due to the weather. I'm so glad that we've started growing early New Potatoes in our greenhouses, and that we planted perennial herbs (like Sage) last spring which are now growing prolifically. We're about 1-2 weeks behind on most of our field crops, and we'd have a hard time filling all these shares with variety if it weren't for these extra special crops!
I hope that you're enjoying the fresh spring goodness, you can start getting excited for tomatoes, zucchini, snap peas, and head lettuce which are all coming so soon.
Your Farmers,
Ashley, Caleb and the Sungrounded Crew
