Week 10

Posted on July 4th, 2020 by Ford Waterstrat

I hope you've been having some wonderful times with friends and family as we celebrate this 4th of July Week. So much to be thankful for.

What are the boys riding in this picture? See below

The strawberries have decreased production, but fortunately some other favorites are turning up their production. As you might imagine it takes a lot of careful planning to have a good supply of so many vegetables for you to choose from for nearly 6 months. And- to have a backup variety of crops ready for you in case weather, animals, disease, and other such things get in the way of our plans. It truly is amazing to think that so much food can come from a tiny seed that was coerced into growing so many months ago. And wow- how about the work that went into producing the seed that we planted. Hats off to all the farmers around the world that grow real food. As many of you know, I did not grow up with any farming experience and I did not know how intelligent farmers were. The more I learn about farming- the more I realize how little I know.

They boys are riding behind a seed drill. We are seeding a "cover crop" or "green manure" that helps build healthy soil for 2021 crop season.

We hope you are loving your share each week.

Sincerely,

Ford
