Each season has it high and low points- different crops do well, while others perform poorly. Unfortunately our strawberry harvest this season has been dismal. As an organic grower, strawberry production is quite a risk. In the climate of KY, strawberries are prone to many diseases that can drastically change how the strawberry season goes. As many members remember 2021 was a great strawberry year- We had nearly 6 weeks of strawberries delivered to you all. This year, our strawberry season will be cut short due to a post harvest disease anthracnose. This disease thrives in wet weather. A non organic grower would be able to spray a wide variety of chemicals to stop the disease, but unforately there is not much we can do. The next couple of weeks deliveries will include some wonderful salad greens, some radishes and turnips. We will also be including several of our jarred products. To round out your shares we have these jarred products on hand when we have a crop failure. We hope that you find them enjoyable.
On a good note- our Potato Field is looking good and we anticipate being able to bring you the first "new potatoes" of the season in a month!
Sincerely,
Ford
