We're so excited to begin delivering you the first shares of the season. It's a little bitter sweet though. This is the first time ever that we've had to "buy-in" another farmer's strawberries. As you've read in our newsletters- this past fall our biggest ever planting of strawberries was pretty much wiped out by deer. We're harvesting some, but not enough to provide everyone with our famous Organic strawberries. However- on a good note- our friend down the road has a healthy crop of terrific strawberries that we will be offering in your share. These are not certified organic, but the same varieties and flavor as the ones from our farm.
The romaine lettuce and kales are top notch right now. The romaine is probably the largest and most tender that we've ever raised. It's so fresh too- it will taste great for days. Please make sure to refer to the tips and tricks and storage guide-
As strawberries are usually the centerpiece of the early season (until Mid June) shares will be a little lighter on quantity and variety. Fortunately we work work with a great company to turn our tomatoes, peppers, and other summer goodies into shelf stable canned goods. I refer to these canned goods as my early season "insurance policy". Each season there are challenges that make farming unpredictable and we like to have these shelf stable products ready for your enjoyment.
Here's what to expect as the season progresses- check out our seasonal offering guide.
