We're getting ready for the start of our CSA program next week. We have a lot of orders to fill and a lot of vegetables to harvest! We'll have plenty of salad mix, cucumbers, eggplant, and cherry tomatoes. Beefsteak tomatoes, choi, herbs, and beets will also be available to order. This week, we harvested our first 10 orange peppers from the greenhouse. They are big, sweet and crunchy, and soon enough we'll have many more to offer. We'll be transplanting our field peppers this week too. It's a big job, but we have lots of help from our great employees. Of course, we have to weed and continue greenhouse maintenance, amongst other farm odd jobs.
This week if you are using our "farmstand" ordering system, we have had to revert back to the old format. Very sorry to those who have figured out the new system and switched with us (it really is better!). The problem is that some features are not ready from Harvie so we were not able to use it with our full season shares starting this week. So, we are back to an order of a $10 "share" which you then customize. I made a couple how-to videos last year, so if this is your first time with the system they may be helpful:
From Pfennings, we have celery, broccoli, bananas, oranges, and strawberries. We also have some new and returning products, such as coconut milk, salad dressing, tea, dried figs and dates, and fruit juice blends. Kale from HOPE Eco Farms, asparagus from Mazak's Farms, and rhubarb and asparagus from Orchard Hill Farm is available as well.
