January is flying by for me, I am ordering seeds and working on the Spring farm plan this week! It will be here before you know it! We typically start planting our squash, tomatoes, peppers, and cucumber transplants around March 10th, depending on the weather. When the transplants show up from the greenhouse they are 4-6 weeks old, which gives us a jump on the season(sometimes!) If we do have a freeze in the forecast we will put the covers on the young tender plants and hope for the best! We will plant squash, cucumbers, okra, and melons by seed as well, which typically has better results. Stay safe and eat your veggies!

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
