Cherry tomatoes are getting very close, hoping by next week they will be offered in the boxes! We did finally get some peaches in and they are awesome, still waiting on blueberries though. Farm Happenings for May 18, 2023
Peppers are getting close to being ready, the purple bells are usually the first to be harvested, then green bells. We also have some sweet & hot varieties that will come in soon as well. Eggplant and cherry tomatoes are starting set fruit!!! That means it won't be too long until we are harvesting and adding to yalls boxes. Cucumbers are coming in, we haven't had the explosion of cucs yet but we are picking a good bit right now. Squash is still booming in production and we are starting to see some blooms on peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes. About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
