Our cucumbers are starting to climb the trellises, which means we should start harvesting some soon! We started trellising our cuc plants about 2 years ago because it helped the plants stay cleaner (less dirt/mud) and the cucs would be much straighter hanging down with gravity. It has been a bit chilly on the farm but I have enjoyed not sweating and swatting mosquitoes this week, I know that weather will be here before long. Well I think we all got enough rain last week, wayyyy too much at the farm, but the weather looks great for this week and we are picking some beautiful carrots right now. About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
