Just as I suspected, we got some squash and cucumbers planted last week with the forecast calling for 41 degrees, checked it this morning and it is now calling for 34 degrees! Good news is we are prepared for it and have covers that will be put over the plants to protect them in the event we do get a frost. Its almost a guarantee every year, after we plant the first plants that could be damaged by a frost, here it comes, most of the time without warning, but we are ready for it. With the 14 day forecast showing most nights in the 50's, we will continue to plant more Spring/Summer varieties and hope for the best. I know everyone is ready and waiting for some new veggies in their boxes, I appreciate the patience and trust me, I am ready as well.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
