Pumpkins are looking great and should be ready to harvest pretty soon, its kind of hard to tell just when to harvest these but we usually wait for the foliage to die back a bit and then we will go in and harvest the bigger pumpkins with good color. After we harvest they will have a curing period where the stem will dry up and get hard, that is when we know they are ready to be eaten. As for now it looks like we may get lucky with the tropical developments in the Gulf, fingers crossed on that and I have been hearing we are to expect a warmer and dryer Fall. New varieties will be slowly start coming available for the boxes as we head into Fall, thank you all for your patience and your support.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
