It's hot out there everyone! I keep checking up on product quality and have to give props to our crew who put great effort into sorting and washing and packing everything so it looks it's best. That said, if your lovely, extremely fresh produce sits out in 80 plus degree heat for 5 of more hours, it's not going to look great. We deliver in refrigerated trucks to try to make sure it arrives at your pick up site nice and cool, but please do be conscious of the summer heat and do your best to pick up as early as you can.
THIS WEEK IS A ROOT DOWN FARM WEEK- Root Down Farm is just a couple miles down the road from us and farmer Dede is a long time friend. We have the lucky pleasure of trading veggies for their pork and chicken which is delicious. When you customize you can sort what you are looking at by category. Or, scroll all the way to the bottom of your screen to see the EXTRAS section. Meat will not be packed in your box. It will arrive in separate coolers. check inside the cooler for the bag with your name on it. We cannot refund you your meat order if you forget it.
Produce Updates: We just picked the first cherry tomatoes from our in field hoop houses this past week. As farmers we eat pretty in season and we don't really buy tomatoes as they always disappoint compared to the home grown one. I have to say, it is a decadent pleasure to finally have tomatoes after so many months. We also have cucumbers in season and we've added some little lemon cukes (so perfect for kids lunches) to our offerings this week. We have some fresh spring onions and some lovely little roasting onions (a bit smaller than golf ball size). I blanched a bunch and used them in a beef stew and they were incredible.
Bon Appetit and enjoy the summer bounty!! It's only getting better as the weeks go by. Green beans should be a week or maybe 2 away.
