Hello!
Ordinarily we would be transplanting certain tomato plants from the nursery into the ground in the unheated hoop houses, this coming week . Even under protective row cover fabric, I think this is risky, so we'll wait until next Saturday to work on the more aggressive tomato varieties!
I will have a starter plant availability list with me at the delivery sites this week. We already have a lot planted outside, but everything but onions, kale, and spinach is under cover. we are now free to start the beds with compost and site prep inside the hoops for the summer high value crops.
I have taken full advantage of the online college and high school classes to call back some of our very talented kids from the Springport School System. Even with heightened hygiene awareness, and social distancing, these people are very effective. I hope to be available for even more healthy, fresh produce when our communities return to normal.
This week I will deliver to Grand Ledge on Saturday, 11:15-12:00 noon, moving produce deliveries from biweekly to weekly, but the product preference cut off is Tuesday @ 3:00 pm..As I merge with my online manager, this will keep me from running out of certain items like I do every week. Wednesday,I am at the Family Fare parking lot at 12:00 noon. There is no market at Allen Street this week, but I will distribute prepackaged orders from 3:00-4:00 from my cargo van in the parking lot on Wednesday. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up.
Please see the attached menu for what we have available this week and let me know if I can help. I hope to see you soon!
Thank you,
Mark Kastner
