The calendar is finally catching up to "Horticulture Summer", and it is summer here at Hillcrest Farms! The employee work schedule shifts from afternoons to early mornings, the Snow Peas are in blossom, I picked the first Zucchini today, and we had a few Sun Gold Cherry Tomatoes at the market last Saturday!
Some Potatoes are now in bloom, meaning we"ll have fresh Potatoes in a couple of weeks. We grow a lot of Tomatoes and I see some beginning to blush, the Onions are sizing up, the Sweet Potatoes are growing like crazy. It's, well, Summer!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market on Michigan Avenue after that.Thursday afternoon is farm pick up from 1:00-5:00. Saturday are in Grand Ledge on River Street from 9:00-1:00 pm.
