The outdoor crops need rain and I need a break and some cooler temperatures, so it looks like a good week for all!
We are grateful for the hefty increase in sales volume, and as a result you can meet some of our student employees who help make it all happen. Alex will be at the Allen Street Market and leaves soon for college and a partial basketball scholarship. Alanna and Lauren help us in Grand Ledge, and have demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills. Both girls have scholarship money. Alanna is a freshman in honors college at Spring Arbor University, and Lauren is a sophomore at MIchigan State. Behind the scenes are people like Riley, who has seeded 95% on our germination flats for almost 3 years, and looks to maintain his four point performance as a sophomore at Ferris State. What's a poor farmer to do?!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market on Michigan Avenue after that. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Market on the Grand, 9:00-1:00.
Please see the attached menu for what we offer this week. We will also have fresh Fruit. I hope to see you soon!
Thank you,
Mark Kastner
