Despite the Winter Weather that February brings, I see little signs of Spring all around. 4 inch pots for herb plant sales have arrived, the onions and leeks in the nursery have germinated, Spring Romaine and other head lettuces are growing out of their incubator trays and are ready to be "potted up" to bigger homes. And just last week, Lauren and I put together the new transplanter machine and stuck in over 1500 baby plants!
We may have to buy some extra potatoes from a friend who doesn't have a CSA following, as it is early in the new year, and we have gone through a record harvest already. I know that as the days get longer, people will focus more on greens, but we still want to offer a varied menu. We still have 12-14 weeks before the early Summer Asparagus and maybe Strawberries arrive!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Tannin Italian Restaurant, Shepard Street at Michigan Ave, from 4:30-5:30 after that for our Allen Street Friends. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday I am in Grand Ledge behind Flour Child Restaurant, 11:00-12:00 noon. Please see the attached menu and let me know if I can help; I hope to see you soon!
NOTE: the Grand Ledge CSA Members will get a separate menu Wednesday morning to put them closer to their delivery. Customization of your order is Wednesday Evening at 8:00 P.M.
