We attained 10 hours of daylight last Monday, and then two more minutes on Tuesday. I already see some positive new growth, although it's slow. Still, I added Radicchio to the menu this week, and other crops are getting close! Despite the very cold temps, I think I will have a time window to harvest and fill your orders.
In our unheated hoops we employ a spundbond fabric over the crops to absorb the frost. Sometimes it is very wet in there, and if that fabric freezes so I can't get at a particular crop, then I may not be able to completely fill your order. In that case I will try to carry the dollar value of the shortage forward. Don't despair, the hoops absorb a lot of energy this time of year, and handle the low temperatures quite well!
I have a zoom meeting very soon with my Harvie online Coach. We will finalize the online Farmstand for introduction on March 1, We will also revamp our CSA Memberships, to make the sessions shorter as well as more affordable. More on that coming soon!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the parking lot behind the Tannin Italian Restaurant 4:30-5:30 later that day for our Allen Street Friends.
