We just slipped below 15 hours of daylight, and Summer is full blown. Tomatoes are plentiful, the peppers are coming along nicely, and eggplant is beginning to produce. The melons are pollinated and the nights will begin to cool down and help the lettuce mixes grow a little better!
About two months ago,we received two new honey bee hives. Our beekeeper, Maggie, has done a masterful job of taking care of the busy little things, and the resulting pollination rates are simply amazing!
Not only are the seasons revolving but the growing systems and personnel are changing here, too. My wife is in Texas this week, Lauren is in training at MSU for two weeks, That leaves Alanna, Jan, Farmer Mark, and some newer people to carry on. Whew!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market, Michigan Avenue at Fairview after that, 2:30 - 6:30. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Market on the Grand, 9:00 - 1:00, at JC Park right above the water. Please see the attached menu for the week and let me know if I can help!
Thank you,
