Good Morning!
We grow a lot of Romaine. For those of you caught short last week, we lost over 200 heads due to a deer invasion, and it took some time to sort through and pull the contaminated plants and replant from the nursery. I have shortened the intervals for repellant treatments, and have added mint as we anticipate deer pressure in the coming Autumn months. I apologize for the interruption.
We have a gray and white female cat, who kind of runs the place along with her younger and larger brother. Part of her self-assigned job was to greet our teenage workers upon arrival and hang out with them as they went about the day's work. Our young friends are gone now, but she still waits on the porch for them until realizing that hanging out with me is her best second choice!
My late sister's family are the last mint farmers in St Joe County, and the farming operations are handed down to the next generation. Gary was president of the Mint Growers Association for years. I will offer Mint Oil from their farm at cost beginning next week. This week I offer a new harvest of Hillcrest Farms Ginger!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Farmers Market, Michigan Ave. at Fairview after that, 2:30-6:30. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are at the Market on the Grand in Grand Ledge, 9:00 - 1:00 at JC Park. I hope to see you soon!
Thank you,
