About four weeks left before our student helpers head back to class. Riley needs 2 more days to finish planting flats for fall and most of early winter. The rest of us will spend our time preparing new beds and putting new "skins" on three of the Hoop Houses. We cannot use treated lumber for the baseboards, and our lumber supply may be challenged by a material shortage. I prefer Number One Southern Yellow Pine for decay resistance, and our framing posts are Michigan Cedar!
As we will begin transplants for fall in about 2 weeks, we see progress on fine Summer Fruits and Vegetables, while all of the Farmers Markets are in full swing. Meanwhile Fall and Winter CSA Sessions are coming soon, as I review the plans for possible home delivery. Stay tuned!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 2:30-6:30. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Market on the Grand, 9:00-1:00. I hope to see you soon!
