Beginning Monday September 12, I hope to have my online farm stand up and running where I can post "extras" left over from our weekly CSA distributions that are facilitated by Harvie, my online inventory manager. Until then , all I can do is take them to the markets, as a surprise to all. For example, think Sungold Cherry Tomatoes, fresh Green Beans, and Peaches!
Auto--renew for Fall/ Winter starts the week of August 29. I'll share more next week; the Autumn distributions, including Fruit Share begin September 12.
A little farm biology here: the underside of most plants and I focus here on fruiting crops, contain special cells called Stomata. Their function is to open and closed to release water in order to cool and regulate the plant's temperature. It doesn't help much to water from above, the plant's water supply comes from it's root system. Our growing areas are served with drip irrigation lines to ensure that those roots have the water they need to serve the Stomata, and keep the plants healthy!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 2:30-6:30. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Market on the Grand, 9:00-1:00. I hope to see you soon!
