The next 6-7 weeks become the sweet spot of our Summer Produce, with nature's bounty in full production! We will feature Tomatoes, Peppers, and Cucumbers at the Markets this week, but they are not on the menu because of high demand and the harvests have yet to peak.
I irrigate almost everything with drip tape zones for the different crops. We also drip tape "fertigate" our produce with certified organic amendments, that greatly enhances quality and taste. Our intern Jessie, is in charge of the Tomato Houses, and has done everything she can think of to encourage the Roma Tomatoes to ripen. Those Tomatoes are a key ingredient in our popular Salsa Kits; last week I added potassium for fruiting to the Tomato irrigation zone. After inspection this morning, I added Salsa Kits to the menu!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and scheduled home deliveries. Saturday, we are in Grand Ledge for the Farmers Market on River Street, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM.
