The Tomatoes and Peppers are beginning to arrive in quantities that can populate the Markets! Most everything we are growing seems to be about 1-2 weeks late, but the harvest days are pretty full now. Our intern, Jessieis still with us for a while and she is a very big help. Her Academic Advisor visited Hillcrest Farms last week and noted the nice job she has done in the Tomato Houses and other goals she has accomplished.
The nursery is cleaned out of summer transplants, and we are seeding flats for fall and winter production. I'm not sure how climate change will affect the autumn growing season, so we'll continue our normal planting schedules. Spinach planting is next week!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00 PM. Thursday is farm pick up and scheduled home deliveries. Saturday we are at the Grand Ledge Farmers Market on River Street, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. I hope to see you soon!
