'll work with those of you who don't have power restored by the end of today. Customization of the CSA deliveries ends at 3:00 PM tomorrow, and I can't extend that cut off, but I can make behind the scene changes because, well, I am the Farmer! We'll work together.
The "shoulder season is that transition from Summer to Winter, and later, from Winter to late Spring/ Summer. The fresh harvest in October and November requires some experience, a little skill, and more than a little luck. Some say it's territory where the timid won't tread, in part because the daylight hours shorten the harvest window every week, and so does the planning forecast. Good infrastructure helps and we have it; we will produce straight through next Spring
Most of you enjoy fresh Greens and Baby Lettuce Salad Mix in November and Fresh Tomatoes and Carrots after a hard October frost, and so do I, so here we go! I will offer fruit shares after Peaches, with a nice rotation of Apples, Pears, and Grapes. I love this job!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and The Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and scheduled home deliveries. Saturday we are at the Grand Ledge Farmers Market on River Street, 9:00-1:00 PM. I hope to see you soon!
