This week marks mid-February, our call to start Tomato and Pepper plants for transplant indoors mid April! Historically I note this activity coincides with the demise of our storage onions... so sad. I have a very few left in the temperature controlled cooler, and if your CSA order was short Onions, we will automatically add them next week, and then it's done. I have some Scallions in, but they aren't doing much yet, and the overwintered Yellow Onions won't begin bulb development until early April, when the daylight reaches about 12 hours. Yikes!
As an early reminder, I will begin planting for home garden transplants in 3 weeks, beginning March 4. We will offer a good selection, but if you have any special requests, please let me know soon! I know it sounds early; I'll be planting early summer Carrots and spring Radishes before that! Home garden plant orders will be available beginning May 8, just before those wonderful Snow Peas are ready for Market.
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00 PM. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and Saturday I am in Grand Ledge behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:00-12:00 noon. Scheduled home deliveries are Saturday afternoon unless other arrangements are made. I hope to see you soon, and Thank You!
