Our "shoulder season" when we slowly convert from Winter to Summer is about 3 weeks from peak selections! The midi-head lettuces and warmer weather greens are still about 3 weeks away. As for Summer fruiting crops, we planted Tomatoes per schedule-February 15, and they are ready for the greenhouse soil. I even saw blossom buds on some cherry tomatoes! Looking forward to the very cold nights coming this weekend, we'll keep everything in the heated nursery for an extra week. I do take risks all the time, but not when it comes to a 40%-60% crop loss!
I'd hoped for some pictures by now for plant prices. Basically, a 4-pack (1"x1") cell is $3.00; if I must break it for a one cell sale, it's $1.00. 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 pots are $3.00. 4" pots are $4.00, and 6" pots are $5.00. Of course there are discounts for multiples purchased.
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot on Wednesday in Eaton Rapids at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday I am at the rear of the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery in Grand Ledge, 11:00-12:00 noon. I will move with the opening of the Grand Ledge Farmers Market on June 1, and the hours for pick up will greatly expand. Scheduled home deliveries are Saturday afternoon unless other arrangements are made. I hope to see you soon, and thank you!
